Paul Whiteman and His Orchestra - from May 1925 - this is one of Whiteman's first electrically recorded sides. The Victor Talking Machine Company began deploying the Western Electric Hi Fidelity recording system during this time. I have enhanced this recording to refresh the sound using various audio restoration software. Enjoy a great 1920's orchestra in all its glory.

Paul Whiteman was composer and bandleader who became known as the “King of Jazz.” His orchestra was one of the most popular dance bands in the 1920s and 1930s. The band’s recordings were very successful. Whiteman’s notoriety was mainly in the 1920s and 1930s, but he was still popular and of such high reputation enough to attract sponsors to radio programs through the 1940s. It was Whiteman who gave Bing Crosby his start, and he also commissioned George Gershwin’s famous Rhapsody in...

Meanwhile Victor truly perfected the art of good recording with the old acoustic methods. This collection features the Paul Whiteman Orchestra before and after Paul's concert in 1924 "An Experiment in Modern Music" representing some very fine...
